Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a list of often asked questions about Dragonball Source.
Whats is DBS/DBSource/Dragonball Source?
Dragonball Source, or DBS/DBSource as it is also
known, is a Dragonball Z 3rd Person Team Deathmatch game built on the
Half-Life 2 engine with RPG elements. It also a Multiplayer
Only game in it's current state.
But why is it called Source?
Source is the name of the engine that HL2 is built on.
Will I need Half-Life 2 installed to play
DBS?
Yes! This is a "Modification" (Mod) of the
Half-Life 2 game. Which means the main game elements
are installed with Half-Life 2.
I brought CSS/DODS/HL2DM/etc, will these run
DBS?
Whatever game you have brought, so long as it supports
the running of HL2 based mods, then it's safe to assume
they will run DBS. However, we only support HL2 and
HL2DM based installs, because this is what the team
has used to create the mod, if you wish for support
on the other Source based games, please check their
relevent websites.
How much will this game cost?
Nothing, it's FREE!!! Well, you'll need to purchase
Half-Life 2, but we won't charge a fee to download
the mod. It is free to all who want it.
Won't FUNiMation shut you down like they did
to lots of other DBZ mods/games?
Seems you listen to rumours and believe them 100%...
BFP (Bid For Power) did infact get closed down, but
becausethey intended to SELL the game without permission
of FUNiMation, which is ILLEGAL. DBZ mods then used
the same excuse when they lost staff members and failed
to complete their game. We have released already,
the game is public domain and considered a "fan
tribute", like ESF. ESF has been around for 7
years or more without complications and we see no
reason why this shouldn't be the same with DBS.
Is this game going to be Single Player or
Multiplayer?
Multiplayer is the version of the game we are currently
working on, SinglePlayer may make a return later,
however that version of the game is currently on hold.
When will the next release be?
Unknown. We have no date at this moment in time. We
could lie and pick a random date and then fail to
live up to that date and annoy lots of people waiting
for the game (remember what happened with Half-Life
2). Instead we are "When it's Ready" status.
What Characters will be in the game?
You can see a list of characters currently ingame
by clicking the characters link on your left. Not
all characters that will be in future versions are
listed there though, because there are to many to
list at this time. A good rule of thumb would be to
think of it as all the main fighters (per saga) will
feature in this mod. We are also looking to publish
at least 10 characters per saga release... perhaps
more, depending on the saga.
Will you be making the oiginal Dragonball
or Dragonball GT?
We are concentrating with DBZ first, after that, anything
is possible.
What about the Films and TV Speicals?
We shall try to work in the Film aspects to single
player, otherwise they'll be addons. The TV Specials
(Trunks & Bardock) will be part of the main story,
somehow, but thats not been worked on yet until the
Namek/Trunks saga's.
Can I be a "Beta-Tester"?
Unless we advertise for beta-testers, any applications
for this job title will be met with a firm "NO",
and future beta-tester applications from you will
be rejected, even i we require them.
I'm Skilled, can I join you mod?
Please click the "Join Our Staff" link in
the menu on your right for more details on joining
our already highly skilled team.
What does the future hold for DBS after all
the DBZ saga's are complete?
Unknown yet, that is a long way off at the moment,
plans can change between now and then, so we won't
commit to any ideas just yet.
What are the rules on your forum?
All forum rules can be seen by clicking the forum
link on your right.
What age certificate rating will DBS be?
Half-Life 2 has a 15 age limit in most countries,
and because this game will be released on the internet,
we shall be sticking to that age barrier for the game.
Do you support Hamachi?
Nope. We never even heard of Hamachi until after the
game was made. Future builds may work with it, we
don't know, but we won't actively support it. So if
you have problems with it's setup, i'm afraid your
on your own (or visit the Hamachi
website for help).
